My First Art Show!

I entered an art show at the Impact Artists' Gallery in Buffalo for the Young Women's Exhibition. From what I have heard from my friend in the art world "It is a popular gallery in a very cool place." Last Saturday was the Artists' reception and I went. I learned some things that I will apply in my future shows. The first is less green, all four of my painting that I submitted ( a barn, a flower, a little Amish girl, and some trees) are bright green and when they were all lined up it was a little boring to look at. Next is more variation in shape, mine were all the same. And I believe size is very important, the bigger the better, not that small paintings are bad its just that people like big. The art work was judged but I didn't win anything, we think it was rigged. Not that the girl who won didn't deserve to win, her work was incredibly amazing. It was that her charcoal drawing that won was on the front of the announcement for the show, they must have had it weeks in advance. Its a bit fishy.

Anyhow, it was a good start and everybody there was around my skill level, some were better and others were worse. I had fun. My work is there until May 7th if anyone would like to go see it.
