The Impossible

This passed Saturday around 12:30ish in the afternoon my boss calls. She starts the conversation with a " Please don't hate me." Already I know that this is bad. She goes on to say that I shouldn't panic and that she is doing enough panicing for the both of us, because there is a really big, tedious rush order needed by Monday. I get a paper and pen ready and she begins reading me the list, a box of martinis, 5 cake domes, 6 carafes.... By the time I'm finished writing my page of 10 1/2"x 8" college ruled paper is filled. Despite her warning, I'm panicing. Two days, shes only given me two days. Normally a list of this size would take me a weeks to complete. I hang up the phone after her farewell of " Go work your fingers to nubs." After proclaiming that I'm going to die, I head to my work table in utter dismay. This is impossible, I'm only one person with only two hands. I label the list appropriately, "The List of Death" and begin. Ignoring unnecessary things, like eating, and breathing, I work continually. Completing each piece with the utmost of care. I was glad that there was always someone in the house just in case if my eyes were to fall out. My mind spun with my painting wheel. I finished the list today at 4:00pm, well most of it, I ran out of green paint and was out of 11''bowls. But over all, it was done. She was going to pick the boxes up at 5:30. My eyes never fell out and my fingers are still intact...for now anyway. I have another list larger than the impossible one for October 5th and still another for October 13th. Pray for me. But the impossible is possible!!!
