Cherry Picking

I have never been cherry picking before and I absolutely love cherries trees! And I love eating cherries even more. I really didn't pick very many myself because cherries grow in trees that are much taller than me. I was able to get the ones that were low enough for me to reach. Most of the time I just faked it so it looked like I was helping and Samantha could get a picture of me picking for the first time.

We picked 30 some pounds of delicious cherries. And I made a pie. Its the first cherry pie I have ever made and I think that it came out rather nicely. It bubbled over a little because my cherries were so fresh and juicy.

Mmmm...we ate it warm with vanilla ice cream.

We only have eight babies now, we don't know if we miscounted or if it died and the mother got rid of it. Their getting bigger and I'll put more pictures up in a little while so you can see.

The Bunny Incident

Many weeks ago the bunnies started showing up at our house. At first there was only one but then it multiplied into two. The neighbor started to complain that they were eating her plants. Awhile later one of the bunnies found its way into our barn and we captured it and put it in a cage. We named it Nicodemus. Then the neighbor captured the other one. She came over and asked Stephen (because he was the only one home at the time) if it was ours. He said "No". She asked if we would mind if she took it down to the cemetery and let it go or if we wanted it. He said we wouldn't mind and we did not want it. When we got home the new bunny was in the same cage with Nicodemus. Stephen had no idea how it got there because he had told the neighbor that we did not want it. Obviously she didn't listen to him. Well, it turned out the Nicodemus was a girl so we changed her name to Nickie. And cappuccino ( the other bunny) was a boy. If you can't see the problem here consider the saying "they breed like rabbits". Anyway, several days ago Nickie gave birth to nine baby bunnies. Surprise! And now there is a third rabbit hopping around our yard, and we do not want it.

Finishing Up

Last post about my New York City trip. We went to time square which was very cool. I bought a blue scarf from a street vendor. While we were there ( at time square) we went to the Hershey's store. Pounds and pounds of chocolate. It smelled soooo good. Are last stop before heading to the train was Rockefeller Center. There wasn't much happening there. We did get lost and ended up in a underground post office. Then we headed to the train. The ride back took a little over two hours. Spencer and Mom found a news paper so they tried to blend in. We played Mafia most of the way so we were back before we knew it, we almost missed our stop. And as we were heading to our cars it started to rain. We got back to the camp very last at night. So we didn't do anything else but sleep. -The End-

Planted

I planted grass in champagne glasses, five of them to be exact. Then I transplanted a little rose bush in a pot that I covered in fake moss.
And the grass grew. And nether the grass or the rose has died yet. And they're still growing.

Central Park

One of the things that I really wanted to do while in NY was feed pigeons in the park. You know, like they do in all the movies. I found a lonely pigeon and pulled out my crackers. It didn't take long before the word got out and the lonely pigeon was no longer lonely. Even several sparrows and a robin come to join the feast. I think I have a future in being a central park bag lady.

The park was one of our favorite places to visit. We're country folk, we need trees. Spending all day there would be far to easy.
The statues there are so wonderful.We ate hotdogs for lunch that we bought from a vendor, while watching New Yorkers doing there thing. We saw the Boat House restaurant. In the movie 27 Dresses they walk around the fountain we sat on and look across the lake at the Boat House, you can even see the hotdog vendor in the background of the movie. If we had known that beforehand we could have been weird tourists and acted out the scene.

I can't wait to go back.

We Took a Taxi...

...to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I could have spent all day there. So much art!! We decided to take the guided tour for the highlights of the museum. It was kinda a waist of time. The woman guiding out tour showed us some of the ugliest things there and then she talked about them for hours. The only thing she showed us that I really liked was Monet (there were several others that weren't bad). When the tour was over we went back to his work, they had close to fifty of his paintings. He is my favorite. We only stayed for three hours or so, so there was alot that we didn't see. Oh, how I love art!
